Next Gen Presentation MBFWA
This year's batch of Next Gen artists & designers included Isabelle Quinn, Stanzee, Victoria Bliss, Steph Henley, Sarah Hope Schofield and Meredith Bullen plus a whoooolleee lot of fashion punch!
Stanzee stole the award for best brand of the evening, with a focus on flowing, weighted designs in black & white . Plunging necklines, layers & over the knee boots added a wintery feel to the looks, which were beautifully accessorised.
Stephanie Henley spared no details on intricacy, clothing her models in entirely unique couture looks. Strong use of structured tulle & embroidery, combined with the bold colour palette of reds and blacks created an unforgettable experience.
Victoria Bliss (Melbourne based) put forward an inspired collection, which gave me Scottish royalty meets farmers housewife - and somehow this mashup worked! Bliss used a heavy helping of gold throughout their collection, which added a look if expense to the items. The Highlander inside you will yearn for a piece or two from this brand.
Isabelle Quinn showcased a more edgy line than previously, focusing on navy blue, sequinned star shaped embellishments & metallic boots. There was clear inspiration drawn from old time Americana, with styling focused on cinched and corsetted waists. Pirate-chic Ahoy!
Next Gen is one of my favourite shows annually, and this year's offering was just as standout as previous years. Thank you to St George for sponsoring the future of Australian fashion through showcasing these fabulous emerging designers, who breathe freshness into the blood of the industry. Xx
