MBFWA: STILL STILL STUDIO
Stunning, delicate details and a country meets 80's woman vibe, were the centrepieces of Still Still's resort runway this season. Seemingly drawing inspo from Carrie's (SITC) chameleonesque wardrobe, the runway was piecey and disjointed, but in the most unified way.
Peachey golds, dusted roses and shimmering sandy beiges in sheer sateens and elegant draped hemlines floated down the runway, homaging the current Manhattan it girl on a shopping day. Cute glittered & flowered belts, as well as ironed on emebellishments gave a youthful feel to the outfits adding juxtaposition and interest to the garments.
70's & 80's flowing cuts and oversied sunglasses were elemental on the runway, alluding to a carefree time where women were dainty and hippified. Cane baskets and glitter ankle socks amped the looks into a contemporary and current style.
Plus there was glitter! All too often designers shy away from razzle dazzle for the resort months - and that bums me out! It was so fun to see these shining gowns float down the runway...of course not everyone's cup of tea, but a huge point of difference from this year's floral frenzy!
Onto more block coloured looks, fringing, drapery and sheer materials all unified the collection, as the colour palette was so sparse. Clothing cuts focused on accentuating the legs of the models, with ruffles and frills moving seamlessly with each step.
And of course, teal managed to sneak it's way into the colour palette, even for this bold runway! Still Still offered a breath of fresh, sparkly air at MBFWA 18 & I lived!
