Romance Was Born - Electro Orchid, Resort 18.

Romance Was Born are, without a doubt, my favourite Australian label (as you all already know) and this year's Resort offering entitled 'Electro Orchid' is every reason why I can't get enough of Luke & Anna's designs. Inspired, quirky, kooky and empowering all a once - Electro Orchid was an easy stand out of MBFWA this year.

Collaborating again with long term artistic muse and celebrated Australian artist, Del Kathryn Barton, RWB brought electric, crazy-beautiful, kaleidoscopic fantasy to life for Resort 18 in the best way. Artworks, glitter, faux feathers, silk, bright vivid colours and sheer fabrics were all used to create a rainbow of bad-assery - and the result was something truly unique and realised.

Models danced with individual attitudes down the pink-lit runway to disco tunes (such as Donna Summer's - I Feel Love) in a languid party, celebrating both the excess, and the barely there. Frills & frou, tiered dresses that could have been ripped from Mary Antoinette's boudoir (if she was bad enough), models hand painted by Barton and Swarovski crystals covering nipples left audience members excited for more.

Latex stay ups and re-imagined use of lace combined with perfect styling choices by Peter Simon Phillips, lead to a runway full of creativity, happiness, brightness and joy, a feat which I believe has always been a goal (and achievement) of the designer duo. Work on hair and make up was also notably extensive, with crystals, unicorn horns and extravagant eye shadow colours utilised to amp up the already loud designs.

To every ethereal, sexy, disco nypmh out there, Electro Orchid is calling your name. A huge congratulations to Romance on 10 years at MBFWA, it's easy to see why Luke & Anna are touted as two of Australia's best designers with a collection such as this. The perfect closing runway, and perfect end to another year of Fashion Week.

See you all again next year! xx
