Bali Bible: Day Five
Picking up directly from where I left off on this sweaty Ubud day ā our next stop was the famous rice paddy terraces. I was particularly excited to see these, because Iām a huge nature geek, and the terraces were so green and gorgeous, they definitely did not disappoint! Although it was sweltering, we did manage to do a small walk around the terraces prior to melting on the spot. We slunk back up to meet Hery, our driver, and grabbed a fresh coconut on the way (sooooo refreshing!) to help us chill out before the next stop. I love historical buildings and nature, and the picturesque Holy Water Spirit Temple was the perfect combination of these. Nestled in Ubud, the Temple is built around an amazing natural spring, providing fresh, cold running water all year round. Tourists are able to bathe & wash in the pure, holy waters, but on this particular day I decided not to go in (as it was really crowded). Exploring the surrounds of the temple is more than enough motivation to visit, with beautiful architecture and intricate, varied artworks on display. There is, of course, a market outside the temple, as well as storage lockers to hold your clothing should you want to go for a swim. Sarongs must be worn inside the temple, and can be easily rented for a donation cost at the entry point to the site. You can also purchase food an drinks at the exterior markets, as well as souvenir memorabilia you can't find elsewhere in Bali. There are also large Koi fish ponds within the temples, which I found particularly peaceful and grounding to sit by for a few moments. This was our final activity for the day, and as we bundled back into the car with Hery, we couldn't wait to arive at our new private luxury villa - Villa Radha in Canggu. Tune in tomorrow to check out our amazing accommodation! xx
