Eugenie: NZFW
I am green-eyed over anybody who owns any single piece from the A/W17 0800-VENUS-ENVY collection shown by Eugenie this NZFW. This presentation oozed 1970's party-girl sass, with floral & paisley print velvet tops, burgundy berets and over-the-knee boots taking centre stage on the runway. Dresses in the range featured asymmetric hemlines, and shirts had cut out necklines or spaghetti straps, emphasising the 'vintage party' vibe of the collection. As seen in many other runways throughout NZFW, Eugenie modernised their vintage-style pieces by pairing them with black camisoles, punchy raw edge denims (mainly featuring a straight cut) & layered blue pinstripe shirts; all of which would be commonplace in the wardrobe of today's minimalist.
As you can see from the collage, it is obvious there were many influences at play during the conception of 0800-VENUS-ENVY. Designer, Elizabeth Wilson, channels inspiration from her diverse and social group of friends, which includes artists, musicians, models, other creative types & general cool-chicks. It is also clear to see that 0800-VENUS-ENVY is a collection made by women for women; not only does it look like amazing fun to wear, but it also seems comfortable and practical (Heaven forbid!) This show was an absolute standout of the entire week for myself and many other attendees, and Eugenie is definitely a brand to watch in the future.
