Zhivago @ MBFWA
Darling, Zhivago; you are a Western Australian dream.Co-designed by friends Lara Kovacevich and Lydia Tsvetnenko, Zhivago launched in 2012, and debuted at MBFWA the very next year. Since then the success and renown of the brand has grown internationally, with celebrity fans including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry & Nicole Trunfio.
Drawing inspiration from the 90's film 'Death Becomes Her', the show opened with a musical, theatrical performance mocking the superficiality of social media (the irony of who were the majority of the crowd was not lost).
The fashion was bold, with palettes of black (always), royal and navy blue, as well as all spectrum of gold & pink metallics, embellished sequins and a variety of sheer fabrics. There were structural features, flouncy fabrics and many a gaping, v-neck top on display.
A big kudos goes out to the models, who were styled with fishing wires tied around their mouths & faces, and walked in stilettos with only a upside-down crucifix heel to balance on - do not try this at home.
A beautiful infusion of fashion & performance art, Zhivago was certainly a highlight showcase on this day.
