MBFWA Day 2 Shows
After the excitement of Day 1 of MBFWA I was super keen to get back into the day 2 shows. Unfortunately, this would be my last day of shows due to my University commitments (it's mid semester exam bracket as I type this) so I was super happy that the designers bought their absolute A- game through these collections. Day 2 report - let's go! Featuring: - HAN - Alice McCall - Michael Lo Sordo - Maticevski - Ginger & Smart
Living the pleat life at Michael Lo Sordo! An ultra-feminine and glamourous presentation by the master of exquisite silouhette. The colour palette focused on classic blacks, whites & bold reds, with the real drawcard of the collection being the gentle, almost Roman inspired toga style designs.Love the maxi-dress style look and layering - especially in outfit 1 pictured here. One of these pieces would be enough to make any girl feel like a princess! Bravo xx
Alice McCall
Alice McCall is such an icon of Australian fashion, and although many of her pieces are brightly coloured and very girly, they still manage to retain a sense of class & distinct style. Pictured are my 4 favourite looks from the show. I absolutely adore the shimmer look patterned fabric used in looks 3 & 4 and the style of the outfit in image 1 is so relaxed but chic. Outfit 2 would not normally be a choice of mine, but I feel it has so much potential as a skeleton outfit to dress up with accessories/shoes/makeup in so many different ways. This collecy had a really festive feeling to it with positivity vibing through the music & the smiles plastered on the beautiful models faces.
HAN
My favourite show of Fashion Week. The aesthetic of Khim Hang's collection combined with Margaret Zhang's styling efforts was (in my opinion) second to none. Featuring structured layering, masculine detailing & a muted forest colour palette with fresh whites & punchy bold blues - the selection on offer was both refreshing & edgy. The over-lenghted sleeve makes a return in full force in HAN's collection, and I am all about the casual but cool vibe Margaret has created through her texture pairings. The double striped outfit pictured here is nothing but amazing! Personal favourites include the feature black patterned kimono style jacket as well as the grey wrap around cardigan - trendspot! A massive congratulations on this inspiring, wearable and beautiful collection.
Maticevski
Oh my gosh! Toni Maticevski knocked the ball out of the park with this presentation! Pastels, structure, femininity & elegance were the centrepiece of this absolutely stunning showcase which was picturesquely set infront of a crisp patterned & illuminated backdrop. The full, flowing style of the skirts and dresses in this collection combined with the detailed structuring of bodices & layers created an almost magical visual aesthetic, emphasising the beauty of this ethereal collection. Love the fun floral pattern on the first dress pictured & the allure of the white face wrap used in the final image - mystical!
Ginger & Smart
Double trouble with Ginger & Smart presenting a polished & timelessly classy collection this MBFWA. Golden waist belts added a touch of shining drama to otherwise classic, modest shin lengthed flowing dresses. I love the high-set neck used throughout the collection - trend alert for A/W15! My personal favourite from G&S is the final outfit pictured - how incredible is the textured skirt?! A perfect choice for the classy lady who still likes to keep fashion fun. Beautiful show ladies xx
My MBFWA experience this year was absolutely fantastic. I got truly swept up in the atmosphere & was able to meet some inspiring people who were able to give me advice & pointers. The designers all put out amazing collections and stunning presentations - I can't wait to go back next year!
