Snaps From Snapper
I feel amazingly lucky to live where I do. In Brisbane, I have the luxury of a generally warm climate all year around and the ease of being only a few hours drive from many pristine beaches, lush rainforests & hidden creeks. There is just something about being immersed in nature that I feel every human can resonate with - it is just so freeing! In mid February (on one of the hottest days of this year!) one of my closest friends & I decided to make the trip to Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta QLD to cool off with a refreshing swim. She had visited Snapper before and highly recommended we go for the trip (it took about 1 hr 45 from Brisbane) and I must say it was worth every minute of the drive!
When we arrived at Snapper, I was amazed at the diversity of the area. I was also super hot & ready to go for a dip in the water! On one side of the headland is a flat, sanded & fully patrolled beach with perfect surfing waves. Regardless of the time (about 11.30am) and temperature, I was surprised to see that the beach was relatively uncrowded - always a bonus for that added element of privacy.
Although I was sold on this amazing location, my friend assured me the real magic was around the other side of the headland (and I'm glad I took her word for it!). Just around the bend from this gorgeous beach one is able to find a gorgeous half-sanded, half-grassy/foilaged area which is secluded, fresh & aesthetically stunning.
The air smelled so refreshingly clean by the water. I have always felt that breathing in salty misty air from the crashing waves is healing for the spirit & mind, and the surrounding trees provided great shaded areas to set up towels amongst the rock formations & sand.
The water was so clear, it was such a perfect warm, bright & sunny day - I couldn't help but grab loads of snaps! Just when I thought we couldn't get any luckier, we spied the cherry on top of the cake! A man-made square rockpool nestled amongst the natural rockpools, perfectly positioned to catch the mist of the crashing waves - absolute bliss.
After a long, relaxing time in the rockpools we wandered to the top of the cliff of the headland where the photo ops just kept coming! I would recommend the park at the top of this cliff to anybody wanting to have a picturesque barbeque with friends or family.
We were also delightd to spot a love-lock bridge at the cliff top aswell, making this a perfect place to bring your significant other to leave a message of love, or perhaps leave something slightly sentimentally different as this last image suggests...
Snapper is truly a place of sensational beauty & healing freshness. I highly recommend a visit to all. xx
