Hotel Room Chillin
To be honest with you all, I am feeling a little nervous about putting up my first style post. In High School I was never the 'fashion icon' or the 'stylish diva' but moreso the girl in tight jeans & a band shirt permanently paired with dirty Vans or Converse. I also grew up in an area which had amazing thrift shops which you could rummage through for hours - especially for bags, jewellery & boho-style clothing. Over the past few years, my style has become more refined & clean, while still having grounded roots in simplicity, mute tones & hippy-chic.
I recently made a quick trip to Melbourne to photograph the beautiful architecture within the city. I find Melbourne to be such a visually stunning urban centre, but I also find that within the city, the breeze can also be slightly chilly (even in the summer months). Snapped a couple of pictures of my ultra-simple & practical ensemble I wore out for the day minus my shoes (it's that darn hippy coming through again!) for your inspiration.
I always pair block colours. Like, always. It's just so simple & always looks put together but sleek at the same time. I also like going for darker tones in cooler climates as it is more reflective of my mood, plus there is always the chance of light rain!
Bag: Sportsgirl Australia Buttoned Shirt: Cotton On Skivvy: H&M Pants: MINK Fashions Sidenote: some of these are older items, but as they are such staples I am certain if these exact pieces are sold out you could find something very similar in the links provided.
I'm also a 90's kid, so I really dig the rolled sleeves over longer sleeves look. The Cotton On oveshirt I am wearing was perfect for that light extra layer of warmth I need when visiting Melbs, and also easy to tie around the waist if one find themselves too warm.
In these last two images you can see how comfortable & flexible this outfit is, which I find very important when I am taking pictures. Sometimes you need to put yourself into odd positions & situations to get that perect image, so well-fitting pants are a must. The length of this shirt was also great for movement as it had a longer length to it saving your tummy from the cold!
As I come to the end of this post I am not so much nervous as I am excited to share with you all. Let me know what shoes you would pair with this outfit?! Peace to you xx
