Falling For The Falls
Do you ever have those moments in your life where you are just completely connected with nature? Like you can just stop & close your eyes and be totally immersed in the scents, sounds and sensations happening around you? I recently visited Nightcap National Park (NSW, Australia) and can say with absolute certainty that it is one of the most serene places on earth. If you are like me and are the type of person who enjoys bush walking, natural waterfalls & amazingly fresh, clean air pumping through your lungs then I 100% recommend a visit to this gorgeous national park.
Nightcap is beautifully maintained, boasting a wooden walkway with informative signs providing information about the flora & fauna in the area. As the forest is world heritage listed, visitors can expect to see many ancient plants and trees and will also be delighted by the magical, crystal clear waterways running throughout the park.
With easy access from Lismore (my hometown) and Nimbin, you can enjoy a picnic, bushwalk or overnight camping trip amid the parks foilage, waterfalls and crystal clear creeks. There are also many different endangered species that call Nightcap home, meaning that the chances of spotting a rare critter on your trip are rather good!
It had recently been quite rainy weather for about a week and a half prior to our visit to the park, maning that the main attraction (Protestors Falls) could be heard rushing from quite far down the track. I was so excited to see the falls, which are located at the top of the walking track - making it ridiculously easy for tourists to the area to locate.
The trail walk up is absolutely enchanting, as I hope you can see from the images I have captured. There are so many moss covered stones, shaded stairways, viewing platforms & crystal clear streams of rushing water - an absolute feast for the senses. And the falls certainly didn't disappoint...
In this last image I snapped of my partner on on the rocks, you can actually see that the mist from the falls shining in the afternoon sun was creating a rainbow - such a magical experience! On our route back down the trail, we explored the amazing foliage even more, and were delighted to find a picnic area that was completely silent except for the sounds of crickets chirping & a softly running creek trickling nearby. Is this place heaven on earth or what?
The water is so clear in the last image you can barely even see it! Amazing. I truly feel at home in the rainforest and would recommend to any eco-lover to immerse themselves in the beauty of Nightcap - it is truly enchanting xx
