Yousef Akbar Slays MBFWA
Barefoot & beautiful, Yousef's ready to wear couture collection stunned the audience at this year's MBFWA, with many saying Akbar is one of the top designers currently in Australia (a statement with which I would have to agree).
Sequins, tassles, face veils and sheer fabrics made an impact on the runway, paired with models styling (almost reminiscent of a feminine, refined Edward Scissorhands) to create an earthen elf feeling. Reds, greens & shimmer were central to the collection.
The models walked barefoot, and Akbar's focus on precision stitching, garment movement & muted colour tones was on point as always. A favourite detail of mine was the use of wooden pegs to hold clothing together - very romantic. Yousef creates wearable art, and this collection was just that - an art piece.
I had to include the entire runway video for you all below, as this was one of the very few runways at MBFWA this year that made me truly feel something. Thank you Yousef for your incredible & creative mind.
