Kittie YiYi: NZFW
Have you ever had those moments when you have wandered through the children's section of the clothing store and just wished more than anything that you could fit into their adorable little clothes? Wish no more - Kittie YiYi is here with all the mermaidy-goodness any girl (or guy!) could ever want. This collection (a part of the Malaysian Institute group show) was hands down my absolute favourite runway I saw at NZFW this year. The smiley models skipped down the runway to a booming musical track of 'Under The Sea', sung by the one & only Sebastian the Crab (from The Little Mermaid), wearing a pastel-lovers dream wardrobe.
Metallics, sheers & ruffles were used in garments to create an ultra-girly & fun feel, and, as always, layering was a strong styling focus on the runway. I almost choked on my Sanpellegrino when I saw the soft yellow bomber jacket which gives you crab-boobs (first look pictured in the collage) - I. NEED. 100. OF. THESE. RIGHT. NOW. This collection had a true vision & coherence, while not taking itself too seriously, which I appreciated deeply. I loved the lacey socks & nude heels, I loved the ruffled capri pants, I love the slightly high-waisted cuts...I just...I just loved everything. Discovering brands such as Kittie YiYi is such a rewarding aspect of attending Fashion Week events - please, if this type of fun & quirky style is your vibe, then check out Kittie's previous collections too - AH-MAY-ZING. http://kittieyiyi.com/
