Federation: NZFW
'Birds Versus Bees', Federation's offering to this year's NZ Fashion Week, was one of the most highly anticipated shows...and it certainly did not disappoint spectators at all. I was lucky enough to have my Dad join me at this particular show (his first Fashion Week ever!) and we both agreed that it was a fantastic showcase. The collection itself would best be described as eclectic, quirky, cool & full of attitude. Faux fur, extended bomber jackets, ombre socks & beanie accesories were in full flight as models literally shoulder-barged each other in a show of toughness mid-runway.
The garment range presented was extremely versatile, including a wide range of sweaters, dresses, pleated skirts, co-ords & tees for women. The colour palette focussed predominantly on dusty pinks, blues & caramels, incorporating in monochromatic tones for more edgy, adult takes on streetwear. Layering was also featured heavily in the runway styling, with models donning low cut v-neck tops layered beneath motorcycle jackets or snuggly knits. Federation also took self-branding to a new (but also tasteful level) stenciling, logoing & graffiting on the Federation 'F' logo to many articles, including hoodies, coats & trenches.
This show was a massive success, from the looks to the model's attitude to the soundtrack - a huge congratulations to Designer Jenny. xx
