TOME Resort 17 @ MBFWA
Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin of widely known NYC-based brand TOME presented the most outstanding runway on Wednesday of Fashion Week. With a focus on being a brand for 'every woman', TOME's collection focused on diversity of range tied together through high quality design & modern takes on classic garments.
Earthy tones of blood red, browns & charcoal featured during the opening segment of the show, with the charge being led by the beautiful Sam Harris. Block colours were used on different fabrics to breathe new life into otherwise simple pieces, with the patched leather jacket also including pops of navy blue for contrast.
Floral patterns in bold colours (such as fuchsia, cyan & peach) and bejewelled eyebrows added drama to the collection, while the repeat use of certain patterns in different styling demonstrated the design-focused minds of Lobo & Martin.
The overall aesthetic of the runway was 'women dressing for themselves', and the designers intentional choice to mix on trend with off-taste to create a fashion fusion has been ridiculously successful. Momentum has been gaining behind the brand for many years, and is that any wonder seeing as TOME's ethos is to create relevant, pure and essential fashion for the everyday woman: something they have seemingly effortlessly managed for Resort 17's collection. One of my favourites so far at Fashion Week, these guys are absolutely a brand to brush up on.
