VAMFF Premium Runway 4

VAMFF Premium Runway 4

I have been dreaming of VAMFF since my return to Brisbane and the work/uni daily grind. I saved a couple of shows to post knowing that I would simply need to re-live the experience after the event (vicariously through video, though it may be!) Premium Runway 4, featuring Alex Perry, Carla Zampatti, Dion Lee, Ginger & Smart, Martin Grant and Yeojin Bae, presented a vibrant array of fun & versatile Winter ensemble. StyleSpy's tips coming at ya:

1. Orange Is The New Black. I've always wanted to use that pun successfully, so thank you to Mr. Perry & Mr. Grant for making my dream a reality. Orange is back with a vengeance this season, as all shades of papaya, tangelo, peach & coral flounced down the runway. This #ontrend moment was all too bittersweet for myself, however, as I know for certain I look atrocious in every single tone of orange (curse my pale skin!) - but for the ladies who can rock it, dare to be bold! 2. Extreme Fringing. This F/W season will be dominated by structured layering and texture interplay - and this next VAMFF runway trend favourite distinctly embodies the latter. Extreme fringing featured heavily during Premium Runway 4, and was also spotted by StyleSpy peppered throughout the other runway events. This extreme fringing is not discriminate towards fabrics, so expect to see leather, chiffon & suede looking like it's been put through the paper shredder (in the chicest possible way). Ex-Fri can be found on all statement pieces, especially midi skirts & vests this season. 3. Floral Prints. Time to pay Granny a visit for a wardrobe raid - florals are back this F/W! Think dainty, delicate flowers printed on flowing maxi length dresses and skirts, or bolder petal details woven into fabric. A/W 16 florals will have a vintage and ultra-feminine feel, so if you're in the market, try a beige floral wrap dress or a peasant-sleeved fuchsia crop. I'm tipping floral as THE festival trend this season too, so perhaps some springtime flares may be in order? 4. The V. It wouldn't be Winter fashion without having to sacrifice some sort of warmth & comfort for aesthetic perfection; enter the deep v neck line A/W16 trend. Plunging V-neck lines took centre stage in both casual wear & formal pieces, and carry through the structured layering concept which will be so coveted this season. By choosing a plunging neckline on a sweater, you are able to show off more of the item styled beneath, and there is something about a plunging neckline paired with long sleeves that has always been so romantic. 5. Cloud 9 Coats. It also simply wouldn't be Winter without some decadently luxe & impossibly warm items entering your wardrobe too, and what other item would you choose over a huge, statement fluffy coat? Weather woolen, feathered or faux-fur, the oversized, fluffy textured coat is a must have for every cold season; this year's focus is on wine/burgundy colour palettes and a straight style with a thigh length cut. I am in love - will be buying simply too many of these types of coats.
