MBFF: Mercedes Benz Group Show Picks
The Mercedes Benz Group Show's are always a favourite at MBFF each year. With a focus on leading design and innovation, this year's shows were no exception, showcasing some of the best that Australian fashion has to offer. Check my favourites from both the group shows below!
Easton Pearson
It's SS15 by the sea with Easton Pearson! This collection features all the summery goodness you need, including bold nautical-inspired prints, loose & vibrant kimono's and incredible, waist-tie sleeved dresses (I die from happiness!). Easton Pearson's design's draw influence from vintage clothing and textiles, old movies, books & museums and foreign design, all of which come together in this uplifting & bright collection. Ginger & Smart
Feminine chic reigns supreme with Ginger & Smart's SS15 collection 'Latitude'. Royal navies and sweeping hemlines are both central to the tone of this collection, with playful yet polished cuts combining luxury with contemporary design to create a truly distinctive range. In case you didn't know, Ginger & Smart are accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia (as if you needed anymore reason to buy) - so click here now to grab yourself some dope & moral threads.
Jayson Brunsdon
All class with the man Jayson Brunsdon, gearing up for a monochromatic SS15. Channeling retro glamour, this collection (as with much of Jayson's work) has a focus on flattering the female figure through clever tailoring and design manipulation. I love the high-waist cut used throughout the range, and I believe it is safe to say that it's going to be a pattern-filled SS15, with this trend reflected at every turn of the runway. White Label Noba
Ironically enough, this coyly-named label actually featured some extremely vibrant & colourful designs! White Label Noba really impressed me on the night, presenting an eclectic collection featuring a little something for everybody. WLN uses a range of feminine silks, durable cottons, daring colours and simple elegance to keep their garments distinctive & true from season to season. Super excited to get my mitts on a few of these loose-fitting maxi, split-side dresses - wayyyy to easy for Spring/Summer. Have a perve on White Label Noba's online collection by clicking here.
Paul Hunt
Custom design, delicate details & strong hints of Parisian influence - it could only be the master, Paul Hunt. Paul is widely renowned for his use of intricate handcrafted embroidery, embellishments and fine beading on his one-of-a-kind garments, and his designs are viewed as the creme-De-la-creme for breathtaking bridal gowns, show-stopping evening wear and custom made day wear for all occasions. I loved that each piece has it's own life & magnetism, while still working seamlessly with the wider collection - discover more by clicking here.
Nicola Finetti
Elegance comes naturally to Nicola Finetti, with this most recent collection conveying the application of complex, detailed structure upon simple & classic cuts. All these garments manage to maintain a fresh, street edge, while the patterns & fabric choice lend the looks a slightly feminine twist. This collection is of a durable, sustainable quality, and each piece is supremely stylish and highly wearable. Get yours now by clicking here.
Sacha Drake
My God she has done it again! Presenting an uplifting, vibrant & fun collection for SS15/16, Sacha curated some jaw-dropping moments on the catwalk, including a bright pink light-up skirt (not pictured) and a gorgeous finale piece thanking the crowd for their attendance (pictured far right). Each piece within the collection is a perfect-hybrid, concocted with equal parts of memorable, complement-catching & flattering, and each is striking (yet feminine) in their own way. Jack Sullivan
I now know who I'm getting married in!! I was absolutely blown away by all the gorgeousness that was Jack Sullivan's MBFF15 runway: Picture your dream princess gown and then add +3764 amazing points and you'd still only just be scratching the surface of what this talented young designer can offer. Jack's style reflects a sense of old-day elegance combined with contemporary playfulness, and each garment is a visual feast of embellishments, textures, fabrics, layers & colour. If you have an important event night & occasion coming up, then look no further than these royal designs fit for a queen - summon them to your service by clicking here.
