MBFF Brisbane Arcade Show Picks
This year marked the 10th year celebration of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, the most highly anticipated and widely covered style event in Brisbane. Taking place from the 23rd - 28th of August, this year's MBFF featured a range of catwalks showcasing the best in local, and wider Australian designer fashion. Here are my top picks from the Brisbane Arcade Show, which was held on Tuesday night.
Pia Du Pradal
Spring is right around the corner, and Pia has you covered. Flowy, knee-length feminine frocks, chic fitted two-piece suits & vibrant colour-pops take centre stage in this collection which screams 'spring time races'. My personal favourites pictured here are the incredible white, fitted two-piece suit reminiscent of Winter (image 3 on top) and the monochromatic patterned dress with bold green stripe (image 5 on top), the latter of which will be a staple item in the girly-girls spring/summer wardrobe this season. A stunning collection targeted to the professional woman - discover Pia Du Pradal's Summer collection by clicking here.
Maiocchi
Patterns on patterns on patterns! Maiocchi's Spring 2015 collection channels retro 1950's styles, focusing on ease-of-wear & flattering the figure. The celebration of Spring is reflected within the adventurous colour & custom print palettes, with each piece personalised through handmade details & quirky touches. Heed my words that clashing prints & knee-length style everything will be everywhere this coming Spring (take notes from these runway pics). This collection is a texture sensation of seasonal trims and adornments - experience Maiocchi's fresh Spring beauty by clicking here.
Irma J Smith House of Fashion
The masters of craftsmanship, creativity & hand made couture garments, Irma J Smith did not disappoint at this year's event, presenting a uniquely inspired collection which truly showcases the talent of this team. A bit of everything for the style chameleon like myself, Irma's standout pieces had to be the gold & silver, completely sequined crop&pant (image 1, bottom), the evening-noir laced black crop & high waisted skirt (image 4, bottom) and, of course, the vibrant spotted sequin maxi w/ yellow & black block cape (image 5, bottom) which was an absolute crowd-wower on the night! It's easy to see why these guys have been killing it for over 50 years - immerse yourself in these specially crafted garments by clicking here
Tengdahl
And finally, my standout label of the evening - Tengdahl. This collection speaks to luxury tastes, while allowing for high wearability & functionality - it is the type of collection that you just want to purchase every single piece from! Channeling beautiful boho for the Spring, these handmade garments feature earthy prints, fringing, lace & suedes, v-neck dresses and a sophisticated colour palette. This collection transcends generations, with pieces both flattering & suitable for a wide range of women. These pieces somehow cater to different styles, all while still strongly maintaining a distinctive feel which can only be described as 'Tengdahl'. I can't choose a favourite piece - I love everything! Run to Tengdahl's e-shop by clicking here.
